Verifying Outlook 5 email settings

Your Dnet Internet Services Installation CD should automatically install Outlook Express 5 with the proper email settings. Should the verification of these settings be required you can follow these steps to do it.

1. Start Outlook Express by double-clicking the Outlook Express icon on the Windows desktop.

2. Once Outlook Express starts click the “Tools” menu at the top of the window and then click “Accounts.”

3. When the “Internet Accounts” window opens click on the “Mail” tab at the top of the window. You should see your Dnet email account listed in the box below. Click on its name to highlight it and then click the “Properties” button on the right side of the window.
4. In this window you will see the default name of your email account at the top. This can be anything you want. You will also see your Display Name. This can be anything you want as well. In the Email address and Reply address fields you will see your Dnet email address. This should be in the format it is shown with “username” replaced with your actual Dnet username. Also, make sure the box that says “Include this account when receiving mail or synchronizing” is checked.
5. Click the “Servers” tab at the top of the window. Everything should look exactly as it does below with the exception of replacing “username” and the password with your personal username and password. The “Remember password” box can be unchecked if you wish to enter your password every time you check your email.
6. In this window make sure that “Always connect to this account using:” is checked and that “Dnet” is listed underneath.
7. The “Security” and “Advanced” tabs always use the same default configuration so it is not necessary to change any settings in these windows.

You’re finished with the verification of email settings! Hopefully this has resolved any issues you may have had.
