SMTP Authentication

Netscape Communicator
1. Start Netscape Communicator. Once Communicator is started click the “Edit” menu and then click “Preferences.”
2. In the Preferences window you will see a category on the left labeled “Mail & Newsgroups.” If this category has a plus sign (+) next to it then click the plus sign once. It will turn into a minus sign (-) and you will see several subcategories underneath the “Mail & Newsgroups” category. Click on the “Mail Servers” sub-category.
3. In this window you will see an “Outgoing Mail Server” heading. Underneath that heading is a place to type your Outgoing mail server user name. Type your Dnet username (part of your email address before the “@” symbol) in the space provided. Make sure that there is a dot next to “Never” under the “Use Secure Socket Layer(SSL) or TLS for outgoing messages:” heading.
4. That’s it. Netscape is now set up for SMTP Authentication. You should be able to send email without any problems.
