Dnet Email Setup

Remember that you can check your email by going to email.dnet.net. If you don’t remember your password then please give us a call and we will help you reset it.

Email clients or applications (Windows Mail, Outlook, Apple Mail, Thunderbird, etc.) will all have different screens and options for setting up your email but there are a few common settings you should need.

Settings:

  • username should be your full dnet.net email address
  • Incoming server: email.dnet.net
  • Incoming port: 993 for IMAP or 995 for POP3
  • Make sure that SSL is turned on for incoming server
  • Outgoing (SMTP) server: email.dnet.net
  • Outgoing port: 465  (587 with TLS is an alternate option).
  • Make sure that SSL is turned on or that encryption type is set to SSL.
  • if there is a check box for “My outgoing server requires authentication“, then check it.

Tips:

  • If you are using Microsoft Outlook, uncheck the box that says “Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA)“.
  • If you are using a Mac computer, uncheck the boxes that say “Automatically manage connection settings” for both the incoming and outgoing server.
  • If you are setting up mail on an iPhone, you will need to also enter your email address and password in the outgoing settings even though it may say “(optional)”.
  • If you are using a Mac or IOS device and the verification process fails, then all the settings you changed will be reverted back to what they were previously.
  • If your mail client has a field for authentication or authentication type, you will want to choose one of the following options: password, none, clear text, or SSL. Note that you will usually see only one of these options in the selection list depending on what mail client you are using.
  • If your mail client has a field for encryption type, you will want to choose one of the following options: SSL or SSL/TLS
  • If you are unsure of your password then try logging into webmail first.
